WestK FunFest 2026: Mushroom Fantasy
A family-friendly juggling theatre experience where everyday objects spark imagination and shared play
Join a magical, immersive community theatre experience that invites audiences of all ages into a world of shared play and juggling.
Inspired by the resilient, interconnected networks of fungi, Mushroom Fantasy highlights human connections through the joy of juggling – and transforms everyday objects into fun juggling props.
The performance is devised by artist Alysa Leung, in collaboration with local juggling groups as part of the Arts Impact Fellowship 2025. Developed through community workshops, the work brings together professional jugglers and cross-generational community participants, and explores how creativity and connection can be found in unexpected circumstances. At the end of each event, audiences are invited to enter the performance space and try their hand at some fun juggling tricks alongside the performers!

Research and community workshop

Sept - Dec 2026 Focus Group
We transformed everyday objects, such as clothes hangers and laundry baskets, into juggling props to explore the diverse possibilities of juggling within daily living spaces. Also, we sought to rediscover the sense of childhood playfulness across different generations.

Jan 2027 Juggling Workshop
Apart from hanging clothes, how else can you play with a hanger? In our January Juggling Workshop, we teamed up with community participants to become "Life Observers," uncovering the hidden fun in the ordinary!

Jan 2027 Balloon Workshop
Participants of all ages joined forces to DIY their very own "Balloon Mushrooms." The process required care and collaboration: seniors patiently guided children on how to secure the shapes, while children learned the craft and expressed their creativity through movement. Finally, everyone took their handmade mushrooms and danced together to music, transforming the rehearsal room into our very own "Mushroom Fantasy"!
